is a selection of two-hour quick studies in oil done at the weekly
Sertoma Arts Center (Raleigh, NC) portrait painters gathering.
This is a lot of fun with no pressure, and an excellent opportunity to
hone drawing and portrait painting skills. None of the works have
been fussed over after leaving the painting session, and are, therefore,
pretty raw and not to be regarded as "portraits", but rather
as "character studies". If you are interested, some of
these are available for sale for the price of $100 each. All
paintings are painted on 16" x 12" canvas panels, which were
toned ahead of time with acrylic raw umber which shows through in lots
of areas and gives the paintings a harmonious warmth. Enjoy! ~
